{"id":387,"date":"2011-04-25T20:01:05","date_gmt":"2011-04-25T20:01:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/keithspecialty.wordpress.com\/?p=387"},"modified":"2019-12-27T22:11:17","modified_gmt":"2019-12-27T22:11:17","slug":"duct-tape-ductboard-tape-flex-duct-tape-what-is-the-difference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/keithspecialty.com\/blog\/duct-tape-ductboard-tape-flex-duct-tape-what-is-the-difference\/","title":{"rendered":"Duct tape, ductboard tape, flex duct tape"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>-what is the difference?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p>Duct tape, ductboard tape, flex duct tape-what is the difference?<\/p>\n<p>You might have heard the joke that all a DIY person needs is duct tape and WD40.\u00a0 If something is supposed to move and doesn&#8217;t, use the WD40.\u00a0 If it moves and isn&#8217;t supposed to, use the duct tape!<\/p>\n<p>Before the advent of fiberglass ductboard and insulated flex duct,\u00a0gray cloth <a title=\"duct tape\" href=\"http:\/\/keithspecialty.com\/hvac.tin_ductwork.htm\">duct tape <\/a>was pretty much all we needed for tin ductwork and a million other uses around the home, and it is still great stuff to have on hand.\u00a0 Today there is also <a title=\"ductboard tape\" href=\"http:\/\/keithspecialty.com\/hvac.ductboard_and_flexduct.htm\">ductboard tape<\/a>,\u00a0sometimes called aluminum foil tape, as well as <a title=\"Flex duct tape\" href=\"http:\/\/keithspecialty.com\/hvac.ductboard_and_flexduct.htm\">flex duct tape<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As the name implies, ductboard tape was designed to\u00a0construct and seal fiberglass duct work.\u00a0 This tape is pressure sensitive which means you must go over it with a small squeegee to make a good seal.\u00a0 Ductboard tape is available with or without the UL 181 approvals.\u00a0 The UL 181 is clearly marked on the outside of the tape and must be used when the ductwork will be inspected.\u00a0 Surprisingly, the non-UL 181 tape has a higher adhesion rating than the UL 181 approved tape.\u00a0 Most of our local contractors prefer the nonlisted tape unless a job must be inspected.\u00a0 Our flex duct tape is a very sticky, black tape designed to\u00a0bond, protect, hold and\u00a0patch flexible duct pipe.\u00a0 Flex duct tape is not recommended for\u00a0metal duct.<\/p>\n<p>Now you can get the right tape for the right job.\u00a0 We will discuss the WD40 later!<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>-what is the difference?
