aerators [screens] and adaptors - screw onto spout end of faucets

Some aerators are dual-threaded with female threads on the inside and larger male threads on the outside.
Adaptor aerators allow hooking up either a garden hose (clothes washer, dishwasher) or a snap connector to the spout end of a faucet.
There are many diameters, thread pitches, and both male and female types with varying flows (gpm = gallons per minute).  The most common sizes are listed here.
