Sewer and Drain (S&D) Pipe and Fittings
S&D and SDR-35 pipe is belled on one end to connect one pipe to another. No couplings are needed. Solid pipe (no holes) is used to transport water. Perforated pipe has 2 rows of 5/8 holes to pick up or disperse water. Always place perforated pipe in the ditch with the holes turned down. Solvent weld glue is recommended to secure the pipe and fittings.
Our S&D has a crush rating of 3000 pounds per foot. The SDR-35 pipe is not crush-rated; but it has a thicker wall and is heavier pipe. For maximum strength, solid pipe should be embedded in several inches of sand, gravel or clean soil. Perforated pipe should be embedded in 2B gravel at least 6 inches above the pipe. Do not back fill large stones or clay on the pipe.
Because S&D and SDR-35 pipe have the same outside diameter, the s&d fittings are used with both types of pipe.
